Saturday, 17 September 2016 14:48 GMT

The first pole for Turkey in over 10 years

Kawasaki Puccetti Racing’s Toprak Razgatlioglu secured his first pole position after Saturday’s qualifying session ahead of Nuova M2 Racing’s Roberto Tamburini. Razgatlioglu’s pole position is the first for a Turkish rider since Kenan Sofuoglu’s pole position in Imola in 2005. Marco Faccani from Triple M Racing finished in third.

Althea BMW’s Raffaele De Rosa-though he finished with the fastest time- officially qualified fourth as a result of the penalty he received at the last round of the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup. The last lap race incident in Misano between De Rosa and Mercado, which saw the duo retire early, saw De Rosa be penalized by three places in this round.

Aruba.it Racing – Junior Team rider Michael Ruben Rinaldi qualified fifth ahead of Jeremy Guarnoni of Pedercini Racing in sixth. Second in contention for the title, Leandro Mercado brought his Ducati home to start Sunday’s race in seventh, while Riccardo Russo of the Pata Yamaha Official Stock Team finished in eighth.  Alessandro Andreozzi (SK – Racing Team by Barni) qualified in ninth ahead of fellow countryman Andrea Mantovani (Guandalini Racing Yamaha) who rounded out the top 10.

Racing for Round 6 of the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup will get underway at 14:20 local time (GMT+2) on Sunday the 18th of September at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz.
